Radiotherapy
Side effects
Radiotherapy affects each person differently. The side effects you experience will depend on factors such as the type and location of cancer, the radiation dose, and your overall health. While some individuals have minimal or no side effects, others may experience more pronounced reactions.

Common Side Effects of Radiotherapy
One of the most frequent side effects of radiotherapy is skin irritation. This can manifest as:
- Changes in skin color (redness, darkening, or lightening of the skin tone)
- Dryness and itchiness
- Blistering and peeling in some cases
Most side effects subside within a few months after treatment, but some may persist as healthy cells take time to recover from radiation exposure.
Alomar Health’s Specialized Radiotherapy Skincare Solutions
To support patients undergoing radiotherapy, Alomar Health has developed two specialized skincare products designed to mitigate side effects and promote skin health.
Superderm – Advanced Triple-Action Moisturizing Cream
Superderm was specifically formulated to meet the needs of a leading internationally renowned hospital. It is designed to:
- Combat radiodermatitis and support skin repair
- Moisturize deeply and improve patient well-being
- Be suitable for sensitive skin, as confirmed by independent dermatological testing
Superderm is free from silicones, liquid paraffin, and petroleum-based ingredients. Instead, it contains:
- Natural oils such as Squalane (extracted from olive oil) and Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (a naturally derived oil)
- Krite Butter, which acts as both a skin protector and moisturizer, rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidant vitamin E
- Aloe Vera Juice (15% from ecological cultivation), which strengthens the skin’s natural defenses, fights bacteria, soothes irritation, and supports regeneration
- Allergy-free fragrance to minimize the risk of allergic reactions
Alomar Aloe Pure – High-Potency Aloe Vera Gel
Alomar Aloe Pure contains an Aloe Vera concentration exceeding 2,000mg and is processed using a cold-extraction method to preserve its active properties. The inclusion of panthenol enhances its natural healing effects. Key benefits include:
- Polysaccharides, which help reduce inflammation, accelerate wound healing, and promote skin regeneration
- Antioxidant properties, which combat oxidative stress, a major contributor to skin damage and inflammation
- Collagen production support, which aids wound healing and enhances moisture retention
Suggested Treatment Plan
To maximize the benefits of these products, a typical regimen is as follows:
- One week before radiotherapy: Apply Superderm once daily to the treatment area.
- During treatment: Apply Superderm twice daily.
- At 50% of treatment duration: Introduce Alomar Aloe Pure once daily if needed, while continuing Superderm twice daily.
- Post-treatment: Continue use until symptoms subside.
Important: This regimen serves as a guideline only. Always consult your specialist nurse or consultant for personalized medical advice.
